Thiruvananthapuram, July 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that heavy rain is likely in Kerala today. All districts in the state have received rain warnings.
An orange alert has been given for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kannur, and Kasaragod. This means these areas may get very heavy rain. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad, where moderate rain is expected.
Strong winds may blow along the Kerala coast, with speeds up to 60 km per hour. The IMD said that the westerly winds have become stronger, which is causing more rain. Fishing is not allowed near the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep because of rough sea conditions.
On July 18, an orange alert has been issued for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. On July 19, orange alerts are given for Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
