The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a webinar today to guide schools on the implementation of a two-board examination system for Class 10, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This dual-exam structure is set to be introduced from the 2025-26 academic session.

Schools Briefed on the New Exam Structure
During the webinar, CBSE outlined the procedures schools must follow to prepare for the 2026 board examinations. Schools were advised to accurately complete the List of Candidates (LOC) for Classes 10 and 12, and ensure proper registration details for Classes 9 and 11.
Practical Exams and Internal Assessments Schedule
CBSE shared the timelines for practical and internal assessments for 2026:
- Class 12 Practical Exams:
- Winter-bound schools: November 6 – December 6, 2025
- Summer-bound schools: January 1 – February 14, 2026
- Class 10 Internal Assessments: January 1 – February 14, 2026
Schools are required to conduct exams on time, upload marks accurately, and submit all internal assessment awards within the same timeframe. CBSE also instructed schools to reschedule internal assessments for sportspersons participating in competitions.
Guidelines for CWSN Students and Attendance
Schools must make fair and responsible decisions for Children With Special Needs (CWSN), ensuring relaxations are not misused. Attendance records should be maintained meticulously and shared with parents regularly. Schools that have already reported short attendance to CBSE must stand by their submissions.
Mandatory Pre-Exam Briefings
CBSE has asked schools to conduct pre-exam sessions for students and parents to familiarize them with exam rules, conduct expectations, and guidelines. Proper adherence to rules and maintaining discipline is crucial for the smooth rollout of the two-exam system.
Key Instructions from the Webinar
CBSE shared detailed instructions regarding the two-exam structure, including:
- The webinar presentation included 74 slides and addressed 53 questions.
- No reading time or additional time will be provided.
- Only one exam attempt will be allowed; no second chance.
- All questions are compulsory, and only the most appropriate responses will be considered correct.
- Exam duration will continue until all learning objectives are met.
- Students must not carry mobile phones or any prohibited items.
- No post-examination facilities will be available.
CBSE concluded by emphasizing that discipline, adherence to rules, and timely completion of all processes by schools will be essential for the successful implementation of the Class 10 two-board-exam system starting in 2025-26.
