The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has announced the complete schedule, age criteria, and guidelines for Nursery, KG, and Class 1 admissions for the 2026–27 academic session. While several procedures remain consistent with previous years, the board has introduced major changes in age norms, transparency, and documentation requirements.
Important Age Criteria for 2026–27
- Nursery: 3–4 years (as of March 31, 2026)
- KG: 4–5 years
- Class 1: 5–6 years
Schools may allow a relaxation of up to one month at their discretion. The previous “under 4, under 5, under 6” system has been replaced to remove ambiguity for parents and institutions.

- First List (including waiting list): January 23, 2026

Transparency Measures
- Video-recorded draws are mandatory to ensure fairness.
- Schools cannot use abolished criteria or violate the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
- Registration fee remains Rs 25, with no capitation fees or compulsory prospectus purchases.
What Remains Unchanged
- Distance, sibling, alumni, and single-parent categories remain key admission parameters.
- Distance-based point systems (e.g., 0–6 km = 50 points; 8–15 km = 30 points) continue, but schools must align their scoring systems with DoE guidelines.
New Changes This Year
- Stricter monitoring of criteria and documentation.
- Schools must upload all admission criteria, point distribution, and applicant details online.
- Reinforced compliance with videography and reporting standards ensures a uniform and transparent process.
The DoE aims to make the 2026–27 admission cycle more transparent, accountable, and accessible for thousands of families across Delhi.
