Mexico’s Fátima Bosch could not contain her emotions as she let out an ecstatic, drawn-out scream — “I’m Miss Universeee!” — moments after being crowned Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand. The viral on-stage moment shows Bosch in joyful disbelief, clutching her crown as fellow contestants rush to congratulate her. Still overwhelmed, she exited the stage beaming and surrounded by cheers.

Bosch’s triumphant cry marked the culmination of years of dedication, becoming a moment of national pride for Mexico on the global beauty pageant stage.

The first runner-up title went to Thailand’s 29-year-old Praveenar Singh, while Venezuela’s 25-year-old Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser finished third. Completing the Top 5 were Ahtisa Manalo, 28, of the Philippines, and Olivia Yace, 27, of Ivory Coast.

The insult, walkout and controversy leading up to the crown

Bosch’s victory also comes after a dramatic incident earlier this month, when she walked out of a meeting following an alleged insult by Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil. The dispute reportedly erupted after she was criticised for not posting enough promotional content on social media.

As tensions escalated, Bosch left the venue accompanied by Miss Iraq and other contestants. Itsaragrisil allegedly warned others to “sit down” if they wished to continue in the competition.

“What your director did is not respectful — he called me dumb,” Bosch later told reporters. “The world needs to see this because we are empowered women, and this platform is for our voice.”

Raul Rocha Cantu, president of the Miss Universe Organization, condemned the organiser’s behaviour, calling it “public aggression” and “serious abuse.”

Other controversies shadowing the event

This year’s Miss Universe pageant was marred by additional turmoil, including reports that two judges resigned, one hinting at possible rigging — allegations the organisers firmly denied.

Thai authorities also began probing claims that online casinos were illegally promoted through the event’s publicity, adding another layer of tension among organisers.
