Palash Muchhal’s Alleged Private Chats Surface Online; Is This Linked to the Postponement of His Wedding With Smriti Mandhana?

Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal, whose wedding was postponed amid health concerns and social-media speculation

Mumbai: Social media is abuzz with speculation after reports claimed that the wedding of Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music director Palash Muchhal has been postponed due to Palash’s alleged strained relationship. The couple was scheduled to tie the knot on Sunday in Sangli, Maharashtra.

Both families had earlier clarified that the wedding was postponed temporarily after Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack on the morning of the ceremony and was admitted to the hospital. Soon after, Palash Muchhal also required hospitalisation due to health issues but was discharged following improvement.

In the wake of the postponement, Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, issued a statement urging the public to respect the privacy of both families, reiterating that the only reason for the delay was the health emergency in Smriti’s family. However, shortly afterwards, screenshots allegedly showing Palash’s private chats with another woman began circulating on Reddit, sparking further controversy.

Alleged Chat Screenshots Go Viral

A woman named Mary D’Costa released screenshots of what she claims is a WhatsApp conversation with Palash. These screenshots—which include messages about meeting at a hotel pool, queries about his relationship with Smriti, and alleged responses—quickly went viral.
As of now, there is no official confirmation that the chats are genuine, and neither family has commented on these new allegations.

Meanwhile, following the wedding’s postponement, Smriti Mandhana removed several wedding-related photos and videos from her social media accounts, including a viral video of Palash proposing to her at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. Her close teammates, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil, have also deleted posts related to the wedding. However, all wedding-related content remains visible on Palash Muchhal’s social media pages.

Smriti and Palash reportedly began dating in 2019, keeping their relationship private until it became public in 2024. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended his wishes to the couple ahead of their planned wedding, sending them a congratulatory letter from the Prime Minister’s Office.

India’s Pride

Smriti Mandhana remains one of India’s most celebrated cricketers. She was India’s top scorer in the Women’s World Cup, amassing 434 runs at an average of 54.25, including a century and two fifties. She finished as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer, behind South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Smriti’s standout knock of 109 against New Zealand in Navi Mumbai followed back-to-back scores of 80 and 88 against Australia and England.
She was also named in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Team of the Tournament alongside Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma.
