Sabarimala is set to witness a major change in its Annadanam system, with the Travancore Devaswom Board announcing that a full Kerala Sadhya meal will be served to devotees from Tuesday, December 2. The initiative was confirmed by Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar.

According to officials, the Sadhya will include a minimum of seven dishes, such as rice, lentils, sambar, aviyal, thoran, pickle, pappadum and payasam, which will vary each day. The meal will be served between 12 PM and 3 PM using steel plates and glasses, ensuring an eco-friendly approach.

Currently, nearly 4,000 devotees participate in Annadanam daily, and the number is expected to rise once the Sadhya system begins.

“The Sadhya reflects our commitment to every pilgrim. We hope this new approach will be visible in all services at Sabarimala,” said K Jayakumar, adding that the Mandala season is progressing smoothly.

The team carries out continuous inspections through Mufti Patrol and Foot Patrol units, operating in three shifts 24/7.

So far, officers have detected 198 violations, mostly related to smoking and illegal tobacco use. A total of ₹39,600 in fines has been collected during the Mandala season.

Sannidhanam Excise Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar confirmed that surveillance will remain strict to ensure a safe and clean pilgrimage experience for devotees.
