UP Doctor Removed from Duty After Viral Dance Video With Fiancée Inside Hospital Room

A doctor posted at a government hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district has been removed from emergency duty after a video showing him dancing with his fiancée inside a hospital room went viral on social media.

The video, reportedly shot on the upper floor of the facility, shows Dr. Waqar Siddiqui dancing with a young woman believed to be his fiancée. The clip, which surfaced on Wednesday, drew widespread criticism, prompting swift action from hospital authorities.

Following the outrage, the administration vacated Dr. Siddiqui’s government-allotted accommodation and submitted a detailed report to senior officials in the health department.

Dr. Siddiqui, appointed recently on a two-year contract, was serving in the hospital’s emergency ward at the time of the incident. Medical Officer Virendra Singh immediately sought an explanation from the doctor, but after he failed to offer a satisfactory response, disciplinary measures were taken the next day.

“Such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in any government facility. Appropriate action has been taken, and the matter has been escalated for further departmental review,” said Medical Officer Singh.

The incident has sparked debate among hospital staff and local residents about professional discipline in public healthcare institutions—especially at a time when the district hospital is already operating with a shortage of doctors.
