Sabarimala Gold Robbery Case: Kollam Vigilance Court to Hear A Padmakumar’s Bail Plea Today

Former Travancore Devaswom Board president A Padmakumar facing bail hearing in the Sabarimala gold robbery case at Kollam Vigilance Court.

Kollam: The Kollam Vigilance Court will today consider the bail application of former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president A Padmakumar in connection with the Sabarimala gold robbery case. The plea comes at a time when the investigation has intensified and names of more officials have surfaced in the controversy.

In his petition, Padmakumar argues that he is being unfairly singled out for decisions that were taken collectively by the Devaswom Board. The petition highlights that the term “copper” was written in the official minutes with the full knowledge and consent of other board members, and therefore accountability should not be placed solely on him.

The bail plea also points to collective responsibility in the handover of gold-plated plates to Unnikrishnan Potty, suggesting that the decision was not his alone. Padmakumar asserts that if procedural lapses occurred, all those involved must be treated equally instead of isolating one individual.

The petition further mentions his disappointment and frustration at being “hunted down alone”, even though, according to him, multiple members were part of the decisions questioned by the Vigilance.

The court’s decision on the bail plea is expected to be crucial for the progress of the case, which continues to attract public attention due to its association with the Sabarimala temple treasury and temple administration procedures.
