Delhi: The much-anticipated star auction ahead of the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled for today in Delhi at 3:30 PM. A total of 277 players, including 194 Indian and 83 foreign players, will be available for the five franchises to bid for.
Through the auction, teams can acquire 73 players in total—50 Indian and 23 foreign players. Each team can select a maximum of 18 players, including six foreign players, with a total budget cap of ₹15 crore.
The franchises’ remaining budgets after retaining key players are as follows:
- Delhi Capitals: ₹5.70 crore
- Gujarat Giants: ₹9 crore
- Mumbai Indians: ₹5.75 crore
- Royal Challengers Bangalore: ₹6.15 crore
- UP Warriors: ₹14.5 crore
Top names in the auction include Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Amelia Kerr, Meg Lanning, and Laura Wolvaard, each with a base price of ₹50 lakh.
Kerala’s stars in the fray are Asha Shobhana, Sajana Sajeevan, VJ Joshitha, Najla Noushad, Panavi Chandran, and Saloni. Additionally, Minnu Mani, the Railway team’s prominent Malayali player, is also part of the auction list, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
With star power and young talent up for grabs, today’s auction promises an exciting build-up to the fourth season of the WPL.
