Union Minister and BJP leader Savitri Thakur’s attempt to write the slogan “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” in Hindi on a whiteboard has stirred controversy after she misspelled it as “Beddi Padao Bachav.” The incident occurred during an event for the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar, drawing sharp criticism from the Opposition, particularly the Congress.

Senior Congress leader KK Mishra criticized Thakur’s literacy and questioned her ability to manage significant responsibilities as a constitutional post holder. He suggested establishing minimum educational qualifications for election candidates to ensure competence in governance.

The ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, launched in 2015, aims to improve the child sex ratio and promote girls’ education. Despite the error, Dhar district BJP president Manoj Somani defended Thakur, accusing the Congress of divisive tactics and defending her intentions.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar highlighted the incident on social media, questioning Thakur’s leadership credentials and criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ministerial choices. He emphasized the importance of electing educated leaders capable of effective governance.
