Virat Kohli’s struggles as an opening batter in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 have sparked a heated discussion about his form and position in the team. Traditionally batting at No. 3, there have been calls for Kohli to move down the order, allowing Rishabh Pant to open alongside captain Rohit Sharma. However, concerns linger about the impact on Kohli’s confidence.

Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, though not part of the squad, believes Kohli thrives under pressure. “There is no chance for a player like Virat Kohli to damage his confidence,” Ashwin remarked, suggesting Kohli could use a change in position as motivation to prove his critics wrong.

Despite Kohli’s recent struggles, dropping him from the XI isn’t under consideration. Former India batter Robin Uthappa observed Kohli’s demeanor and affirmed his confidence remains intact. “When you see his demeanor, you can tell that man is exuding supreme confidence,” Uthappa noted during a discussion with Ashwin, highlighting Kohli’s resilience amidst scrutiny.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on Kohli’s performance and whether a strategic batting order adjustment will rejuvenate his game in the crucial matches ahead.
