Prashant Kishor has announced a sweeping set of measures to strengthen the Jan Suraaj Party after its disappointing performance in the Bihar Assembly elections. In a bold declaration, Kishor said he will donate 90% of his income for the next five years to the party. He also committed to transferring all properties acquired in the past 20 years — except for one residence — to Jan Suraaj.
Unveiling an ambitious revival roadmap, Kishor launched the ‘Bihar Navnirman Sankalp Abhiyan’, a statewide outreach programme aimed at reconnecting with voters and rebuilding organisational strength. Beginning January 15, the party plans to visit all 118,000 wards across Bihar, directly engaging with citizens to explain Jan Suraaj’s vision and track the implementation of government schemes.
“Starting January 15, we will reach every ward under the Bihar Navnirman Sankalp Abhiyan. Our efforts will focus on winning people’s trust and delivering on our commitments,” Kishor said. “Over the next five years, 90% of my income will support Jan Suraaj, and all properties except one home will be dedicated to the party.”
Reflecting on the election outcome, Kishor admitted that not contesting the polls might have been a “mistake.” He also expressed surprise at the party securing less than 4% of the vote.
Earlier this week, the 48-year-old leader observed a day-long silent fast at Bhitiharwa Ashram in West Champaran, an iconic site linked to Mahatma Gandhi. Kishor had launched his 3,500-km pada yatra from the same location in 2022, eventually culminating in the formation of the Jan Suraaj Party on Gandhi Jayanti last year.
