Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Bihar’s Chief Minister for a record-breaking tenth time, marking his fifth consecutive term in office. Shortly after the ceremony, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav extended his congratulations and expressed hope that the newly formed NDA government would fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bihar.
The RJD, which emerged as the single largest party in the 2020 Assembly elections with 75 seats, suffered a major setback this time, with its tally dropping to less than half.

Sharing his message on X, Tejashwi wrote:
“Heartfelt congratulations to Shri Nitish Kumar Ji on taking oath as Chief Minister. Best wishes to all the newly inducted ministers as well. I hope this new government will meet the hopes of the people, fulfill its promises, and bring meaningful, positive change to Bihar.”
The oath ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath to a total of 25 ministers in the new NDA-led cabinet. Nitish Kumar, now 74, has been at the helm of Bihar politics since 2005, barring a brief nine-month break in 2014–15.
Tensions Rise Within Yadav Family After RJD’s Poll Debacle
Even as Tejashwi maintained a composed public stance, turmoil has erupted within the Yadav family following the RJD’s disappointing election results.
His sister, Rohini Acharya, made explosive allegations on social media, accusing Tejashwi and his aides of verbal abuse, humiliation, and even physical assault during a family meeting in Patna.
In a series of posts on X, Rohini claimed she was subjected to “abusive slurs” and hurtful accusations regarding her decision to donate a kidney to their father, Lalu Prasad Yadav. She alleged she was accused of doing it for “money and a political ticket.”
Rohini stated that she sacrificed her kidney without hesitation, “without caring about the approval of my husband, in-laws, or the well-being of my three children,” only to face insult and mistreatment later.
She further alleged that she was beaten and demeaned, prompting her decision to quit active politics permanently. Her revelations have sparked widespread speculation about the internal functioning of the RJD and the future of the Lalu family’s political legacy.
