PM Modi Urges Opposition to Cooperate Ahead of Winter Parliament Session

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the media ahead of the winter session of Parliament, urging opposition cooperation and highlighting India’s development agenda.

Delhi: Ahead of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a constructive and cooperative atmosphere, urging the opposition to avoid unnecessary disruptions. He emphasized that the session should act as a “source of energy” for India’s rapid growth and development.

Speaking to the media, Modi said the government’s focus remains on development, and the opposition should work collaboratively to achieve new milestones for the nation. Reflecting on the Bihar election results, he remarked that the verdict highlights the strength of democracy and the people’s clear mandate.

“The Parliament session should send a positive message to the public. The opposition should come out of the turmoil of electoral defeats and cooperate with government measures without unnecessary fuss,” Modi said. He further stressed that MPs should be given opportunities to speak, and frustration or anger should not be vented in the House. “The people have rejected the opposition’s tactics. They should understand this reality and find other platforms for theatrics,” he added.

Meanwhile, the opposition plans to raise key issues during the session, including the Delhi blasts, radical revisions in the voter list, air pollution, and the new labour code. The Samajwadi Party has even threatened to stall proceedings if these topics are not addressed.

The government, on its part, intends to introduce 13 bills and hold a special discussion on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. The winter session, scheduled to conclude on December 19, is noted as the shortest session in recent times.
