Sabarimala Gold Theft Case: Court Extends N Vasu’s Remand; BJP Stages Black Flag Protest

Former Devaswom president N Vasu being taken from Kollam Vigilance Court as BJP workers stage a black flag protest in the Sabarimala gold theft case

Pathanamthitta: The Kollam Vigilance Court on Monday extended the remand of former Devaswom Board president and commissioner N. Vasu by another 14 days in connection with the ongoing Sabarimala gold theft investigation. As Vasu was escorted out of the court—without restraints—BJP workers gathered outside and staged a black-flag protest, shouting slogans demanding strict action.

Meanwhile, the court is set to consider the custody plea for former Devaswom Board president A. Padmakumar the day after tomorrow. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already filed a production warrant, and Padmakumar will be produced before the court on Wednesday. Investigators are expected to question him in detail about his alleged links with Unnikrishnan Potty, a key figure whose statements reportedly suggest connections extending to government circles.

The court has also postponed the hearing of Vasu’s bail application to tomorrow and has requested the SIT’s latest investigation report. Likewise, the bail plea of former Thiruvabharanam Commissioner K. S. Baiju has been deferred to the same day. A verdict on the bail application of former Administrative Officer Murari Babu is also expected tomorrow.
