On September 9, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur launched a new BSc/BS degree in Applied AI and Data Science, designed to meet the growing demand for expertise in these dynamic fields. In a notable departure from traditional admission requirements, the program does not require a JEE score.
The degree, created in partnership with Futurense University, is aimed at both prospective students and working professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and skills in AI and data science. The program features an online learning format complemented by campus immersion, offering flexibility and hands-on experience.
Students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to earn a certification in the first year, a diploma in the second year, a BSc degree in the third year, and a BS degree by the end of the fourth year. This structure provides a clear and progressive path of achievement.
The application process involves a qualifying test, submission of a completed application form, and receiving an offer letter from IIT Jodhpur. This streamlined approach makes the program accessible to a broader range of candidates.
The curriculum includes self-paced video lectures, quizzes, and assignments, along with live weekend lectures delivered by faculty and industry experts. This blend of learning methods ensures comprehensive understanding and practical skills.
Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director of IIT Jodhpur, highlighted the need for innovative education models that address contemporary global challenges. He emphasized that the program aims to equip learners with modern skills and competencies to thrive in an AI-driven global knowledge ecosystem.
Raghav Gupta, Founder and CEO of Futurense, noted the critical skill gap between academia and industry. He stressed that the pace of AI-driven transformation is reshaping industries and that the BSc/BS program is designed to address this gap by integrating academic rigor with industry insights.
The program’s curriculum includes over 100 advanced AI tools and practical experience with cutting-edge technologies such as Devin AI and Claude, ensuring students are well-prepared for the evolving landscape of AI.
