A tragic incident unfolded during a temple festival in Kerala’s Kozhikode district as local CPI(M) leader PV Satyanathan was attacked with an axe and fatally wounded on Thursday.
PV Satyanathan, a prominent figure within the Communist Party of India (Marxist), met his untimely demise while attending a musical event at the Cheriyapuram temple in Koyilandi. Suddenly, he was assaulted with an axe, sustaining severe injuries to his back and neck. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The perpetrators of this heinous act fled the scene, leaving authorities to grapple with the investigation. Initial suspicions point towards personal animosity as a possible motive behind the attack on Satyanathan.
PV Satyanathan served as the CPI(M) Koyilandi central local committee secretary, adding gravity to the loss experienced by the political community and beyond.
In response to this shocking event, the CPI(M) has called for a bandh in Koyilandi on Friday as a mark of protest and solidarity.
