In a scathing attack on the Centre, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being the “biggest” corrupt party, alleging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s involvement in what he termed a “5G scam” to favor his “rich friends.”

Singh’s remarks come in response to the Centre’s recent move in the Supreme Court, seeking modification of its February 2012 judgment in the 2G case, which mandated the allocation of 2G spectrum through auction. The Centre’s petition aims to allow spectrum allocation through an administrative process as per the law.

“Desh ko nahi, dost ko fayeda pahunchana chahtein hain Modi ji (Modiji wants his friends to benefit not the country),” Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, asserted.

Singh highlighted the BJP’s past opposition to the first-come-first-serve basis in the 2G spectrum allocation, alleging a change in stance when the party approved a policy shift in Parliament amid the absence of about 150 MPs.

“Now, Singh added, the BJP has approached the Supreme Court to implement the 5G spectrum license on a first-come-first-serve basis. ‘This 5G scam is going to prove to be the biggest scam in the country ever… All of you will see… Modi ji has given airport, railway, electricity… to his friends… Now he wants to benefit them by giving 5G spectrum license too,’ he said.”

Singh emphasized the Supreme Court’s 2012 judgment, which mandated spectrum license issuance through auction, pledging to raise the matter in AAP’s campaigns.
