In the last 24 hours, rain-related incidents have claimed 12 lives across Uttar Pradesh, according to officials. The fatalities include five in Mainpuri and two in Mathura, with additional deaths reported in Jalaun, Banda, and Etah.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings for very heavy rains and potential flash floods in over a dozen districts in Awadh and Rohilkhand. This has led to mobilization of flood response teams including PAC, SDRF, and NDRF for continuous monitoring and assistance.

Uttar Pradesh has recorded an average of 28.6 mm of rainfall, with 51 out of 75 districts experiencing excess rain. Hathras reported the highest rainfall at 185.1 mm. In Mathura, continuous rain caused 31 houses to partially collapse, contributing to fatalities and infrastructure damage.

District officials are working to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased. In Mathura, the collapse of a community health centre’s boundary wall has led to water ingress into the facility, prompting the relocation of patients.

The local administration has ordered the closure of institutions in Mathura due to persistent rain, and major roads, including the Mathura-Vrindavan road, are severely inundated, impacting transportation and daily life.

Efforts are ongoing to manage the crisis and provide relief to affected areas, as the region continues to face severe weather conditions.
