The registration deadline for CAT 2024, the entrance exam for Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other business schools, is today, September 13. Candidates must complete their online applications by 5 pm on the official website, iimcat.ac.in.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta will administer the CAT this year. The exam is scheduled for November 24, with admit cards set to be issued on November 5. Results will be announced in the second week of January.
Candidates need a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA to apply. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the requirement is 45% marks or equivalent CGPA. Those in their final year or awaiting results can apply provisionally.
The application fee for CAT 2024 is ₹1,250 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and ₹2,500 for all other applicants. The exam will feature three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA/Quants).
Candidates will have 120 minutes to complete the test, with 40 minutes allocated to each section. Note that switching between sections is not permitted.
CAT is essential for admission to postgraduate and fellow/doctorate programs at IIMs and is also used by several non-IIM institutions for their admissions.
