Asked about his political ambitions with reference to Mamata Banerjee’s announcement that the TMC would contest seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal said, “I am out of the race for Prime Minister in 2024. Arvind Kejriwal is part of no such race.

“I have only one goal. We want to improve the country. We first thought that it couldn’t be done, but after being in power in Delhi for seven years, we improved schools and hospitals, gave electricity and water free of cost; we learned that our politicians had been fooling us all this time,” he said.

The Chief Minister of Delhi went further to add that he did not take the plunge into politics to “make his career”.

“I joined politics after having left my career. If political parties do good work, work they are supposed to do, we [AAP] will retire. But since they are not doing that, people from more and more states will call us to their states,” he said.

Referring to one poll promise the AAP made which is yet to be fulfilled, Arvind Kejriwal said, “If the Yamuna is not cleaned by 2025 [next Delhi Assembly election], don’t vote for me.”

The AAP’s national convener also said that he has a message for the people of poll-bound Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

“Call up your friends and family who live in Delhi and ask them if they are happy [with the Delhi government]. If they say yes, get at least 10 people to vote for the AAP in your own state,” Arvind Kejriwal said.Live TV
